Here are the three new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7 in May

May’s free Gran Turismo 7 update will include the 24 Hours of Le Mans-conquering Toyota GR010 Hybrid and the SEMA award-winning GoPro Rampage Camaro 1970.

A new Gran Turismo 7 update is coming ‘next week’ according to the series’ producer Kazunori Yamauchi on social media.

As was the case through the life of GT Sport and now so far with Gran Turismo 7, the enigmatic automotive enthusiast is posting silhouette teaser images for the new vehicles coming to the game a few days ahead of their arrival.

Today, 21st May, he tweeted “update is coming next week” alongside an image showcasing three cars.

The exact date for the next update is yet to be confirmed. In the expansive racing game’s April update, three cars were added alongside several new events and quality of life changes. We expect something similar next week with the May update. Here’s hoping the lobbies are refined

The FIA World Endurance Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning Hypercar was previously confirmed for Gran Turismo 7 inclusion in the middle of April as it will be used in the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup esports competition.

Now we know it will arrive before the end of May, marking its first official appearance in a contemporary sim racing title.

Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López piloted the GR010 – which uses a convoluted combination of a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, one electric motor, lithium-ion batteries and a seven-speed sequential semi-automatic gearbox – to both the world championship and fêted endurance race laurels in 2021.

A mysterious convertible

Sadly, so far, we aren’t sure about the identity of the car hidden at the bottom left of the year image – yet. We’re currently racking our brains of contemporary convertible sportscars with a low, sleek, body. If you have any ideas, let us know in the comments below.

Specialty Equipment Market Association’s yearly trade show is a way of showing off to the automotive aftermarket just how extreme modifications can go.

The Las Vegas event also features a laurel from Yamauchi – the SEMA Gran Turismo Awards.

In theory, the modified vehicle that wins this award appears in a future Gran Turismo title. There have been 18 winners so far since 2003 and the majority feature within at least one Gran Turismo game.

Now it’s the turn of this Chevrolet Camaro created in 2014. Under the hood is a small-block LS7 V8 tuned to 750bhp. While the looks may be retro, every body panel is brand new and created using carbon fibre.

It joins the Chris Holstrom Concepts Chevy Nova 1967, Eckerts Rod & Custom Mach Forty and Wicked Fabrication GT 51 as previous SEMA award winners within Gran Turismo 7.
